We didn't actually get around to reading the signed pieces until the quilt was complete. There were so many kind words, full of love and congratulations, and a few fun, off-the-wall wishes, as well. Here are three of my favorite:


"I read Harry Potter books for 5 days straight before your wedding. It seemed appropriate. Love forever, and always- Hope & Rohan." Hope is one of my oldest friends, and Rohan is her adorable son. She was the person who gifted me with my very first Harry Potter book, which changed my life.


"Congrats Andre & Kayla. I wish you guys lots of happy years together & a big family with a lot of babies. Love, Auntie Nadine." It's ironic really, Andre has an Auntie Nadine and I have an Aunt Nadene. This one is from Andre's auntie, but it's just such a sweet note.

"The Whitters. Congrats you two. We are extremely happy for you guys, and remember, 2 Pac cares if don't nobody else care. Tevin & Shemeka WE LOVE YOU! <3" This one was sweet, but just had the fun little 2Pac note that gave me a good giggle.

I am in love with our quilt/tapestry, and I am definitely going to cherish it forever. (And technically, my mom just finished it a few days ago, so is it really a wedding gift?)

I received several new Slimfast Advanced Nutrition items from Influenster to try for review. Inside my box, I have one each of sour cream and onion baked crisps, cinnamon bun swirl drizzled crisps, a creamy chocolate meal replacement shake, and a dark chocolate sea salt meal replacement bar. The Advanced Nutrition plan recommends replacing two meals a day with either a meal replacement shake, bar, or smoothie, eat one 500 calorie or less meal, and eat three 100 calories snacks per day. It sounds like an okay plan, I guess. Several snack each day, and a 500 calorie dinner. It also claims you can lose several pounds each week. So, what's the catch?

So, Starbucks has a new drink that everyone is making a lot of fuss about. So naturally, I tried it. It's the latte macchiato, and it only comes in one size- tall.

Alright, y'all. I hope everyone's new year got off to a great start. I'll tell you, I started out the new year binge-watching Parenthood, eating Mexican and watching Making a Murderer with Andre (yes, we're on the bandwagon, but just on episode four, so shut your mouth). On the flip side, the air in my tire got low, then I lost the air valve cap inside my tire, and this morning I turned off my alarm three times and fell back asleep, then woke up 30 minutes before I was supposed to be at work, then ripped my skirt. But you know what? I'm still smiling. I made it through another year, I'm having one hell of a time living life as a wife. I've already got several fun goal-oriented things planned for this month, and I can't wait to see where the year takes me. Happy 2016!

2015 was a year of so much happiness. I got married to the man I've been in love with for years. I finally got to go to Hogwarts (and the rest of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter). I bought a new car. There was so much greatness that happened, and I cannot wait to see what 2016 holds for me and my new hubby!



This month, I've decided that instead of monthly goals, I will set my goals for the year, both for my blog and for my life.

For the blog:
Post a video each month (a vlog or a song, etc.).
Post at least 10 times on the blog each month.
Be more active in the blogging community.
Update my blog layout.

For the life:
Take at least two weekend trips, and one full vacation.
Start working on my Master's degree.
Read at least one book each month.
Have a date night with hubby at least once a month.
Move into a new home.
Have a date night/day with girlfriends at least once a month.


I feel that it's important to make somewhat specific goals (see above) as opposed to goals like "travel more" or "read more." I also made sure to set goals that I think are achievable for me.
