So, until recently, I had never had my hair colored at a salon. I always colored my hair at home, either on my own or with the help of friends. I knew that I wanted to go lighter this summer and I wasn't quite prepared to do that on my own. I discovered a coupon for Aveda salons (see at the end of the post), and was excited to give the salon life the try!

I've been incredibly interested in a balayage look. Since my eyebrows are darker, I didn't want to be all blonde, and figured a balayage-type look was the way to go. I went in about a month before I was going to get my hair done for a free consultation. The colorist looked at the color of my roots to match up any additional color I would need, and my hair type. She was able to give me an estimate for the process and I was able to set up my appointment that day, as well.

The colorist was nice enough to let me read and relax as she worked on my hair, and also brought me drinks (soda, coffee, water, tea selections) throughout the few hours I was there. She gave recommendations for hair products (whether I purchased them from the salon or elsewhere), and was constantly checking to make sure I was comfortable.

Once the dye-job was complete, she also dried and styled my hair.

I am really pleased with my new look, and the best part is I can let me hair grow with little to no maintenance!
