While I love travelling, getting out and about in the world and seeing new things - home is my favorite place to be. There's nothing like lounging the day away in comfy clothes, cuddling up on the couch, and reading a book.

To be super happy at home, there should at least be an inkling of organization and cleanliness. Realistically, no one can be perfect all the time - including having a clean and ultra-organized home. Fortunately, I have a few tips and tricks that I use to try to keep my kitchen cleaned and organized.

Keep things regularly used in sight.

I often hear about moving things from sight to keep counter space clean and organized. I do a bit of the opposite - I keep the things I often use in plain sight. For example, flatware, coffee pot, pots and pans, toaster, etc. This makes it way easier to use because it's right where I can grab it. Plus, I'm more likely to keep it clean if it can be seen.

Use above-the-cabinet storage.

I love the space between the shelves and the ceiling! It's a favorite space to store cookbooks, cake stands, and vases. Why shove everything under the sink when it can be styled and shown off?

Keep the sink clean.

This one's a no-brainer. We have a dishwasher now, but even when we didn't - we tried to wash as we went with dishes. Mrs. Meyer'sⓇ Dish Soap smells great and degreases easily with soap bark extract. By either washing dishes as you go, or even rinsing and placing into the dishwasher until it's filled, it can keep the sink clean, and eliminate smells that are caused by dirty dishes.

Regularly wipe down countertops and appliances, dust tabletops, and mop floors to keep them clean.

Mrs. Meyer'sⓇ Multi-Surface Everyday Cleaner is perfect for keeping countertops clean, appliances sparkling, and the floors shining. Not to mention, it will keep your entire kitchen smelling great and provide an aromatherapeutic experience because it's made with essential oils and plant-derived products. I especially love that Mrs. Meyer'sⓇ iBrand is Leaping Bunny-certified (aka not tested on animals) and the bottles are BPA-free.

What's even better is that I can always count on Kroger to carry Mrs. Meyer'sⓇ products, so I don't have to take an extra shopping trip to pick up all I need to keep my kitchen clean. Find Mrs. Meyer'sⓇ products at your local Kroger store over by home paper products and cleaners.

Sort your garbage from your recycling.

Luckily, our city picks up our trash and our recycling, making it easy to get rid of both with minimal effort. That doesn't mean we don't have to sort our trash from our recycling in the house. Using the below tutorial, you can easily separate your recycling from your trash, too!

What you'll need:
2 garbage bins of similar size (they don't have to be identical, but it doesn't hurt them to be)
acrylic paint (you pick the colors!)
letter stencils (these can vary in size or font - it's up to you!)
sponge brushes
painters or scotch tape
newspaper

How to make it:
1. Determine where you want your text to be on the garbage bin. I liked mine vertically down the front of the bin.
2. Place your stencils, using tape to figure out how you like the letters laid out best. One garbage bin should be labeled "TRASH" and the other "RECYCLE". The stencils should be taped firmly around the edges so they are not flimsy.

3. Lay down the first garbage bin you want to paint over newspaper so you don't make a mess.
4. Squeeze paint onto the garbage bin over each stencil.

5. Using a sponge brush, evenly pat paint over the stencils. (Rubbing the sponges can cause paint to go over and around the stencils, making it more difficult to form the letters.

6. When finished patting paint evenly, sit that garbage bin to the side to dry.
7. Repeat steps 3-6 with the other garbage bin.
8. Once the paint on both garbage bins has dried, use a cotton swab to remove any paint outside the letters.

9. Voila! Sit your new organized garbage bins up and you're ready to sort your trash from your recycling!
