Well, folks. I finished the year with two books left not read on my 2017 POPSUGAR Reading Challenge - an espionage thriller and a book with career advice. I feel not too terribly about it, because I finished up the 2016 POPSUGAR challenge with four prompts not fulfilled. So it's getting better. I will admit, though, that it took a lot of rearranging my original fulfilling titles to other prompts that they could fulfill so another book could take it's place.

I also completed the Goodreads 2017 Reading Challenge - where I set a goal to read 60 books in 2017, and I DID IT and then some. I ended up reading 67 books in 2017, and have set my 2018 goal at 65 books.

As always, with the new year - I am pumped to get starting on my goals (and especially my reading goals!). This year's POPSUGAR Reading Challenge includes 40 original reading prompts, plus 10 advanced prompts. It's a little less than last year (but just by a bit), and I've already planned out the books for about half of them (which will also help me mark off some of the books I own but haven't read). So I am pumped.

I think something these reading challenges teach me is that things don't always go to plan, but I'm taking the initiative to work on it and get better.

So, how did you do in 2017? And what do you plan to do in 2018? I hope you plan to follow along.

Add me on Goodreads and follow along on Instagram for my 2018 reading adventures!

  1. You go girl! That stack is almost as tall as you. Also, super cute sweatshirt! I only finished 23 books in 2017, and I have a goal of 30 for 2018. Hopefully I'll be able to do more than than though!

    1. I think my yearly stack would be as tall as me - but I had about 20 books I read that were either from the library or ebooks. I'm hoping this year's stack is even taller!
Thanks about the sweatshirt - it's from totallygoodtime.com and I CAN'T STOP WEARING IT!

I wish you the best in your reading goals - you've got this! ;)

  2. I think I'm going to do the PopSugar challenge this year, too, though it's so hard to plan out books this far ahead!

    1. Yeah. That's what I have the hardest time with is the planning. I tend to just pick books up to read and then try to fill the prompt, but I'm trying to be more intentional year about my picks!

  3. wow this is so impressive, I miss the days of reading this much. I read one book (that wasn't a textbook or a travel guide) in 2017 which is pathetic and that one only got read bc I was on a cruise/vacation. I don't have a numbers goal for 2018, just a plan in incorporate reading into my daily schedule more.

    1. I totally feel you about the textbook piece, but what's really cool if you're out living life and experiencing great things! I recommend trying to read for 15 minutes each day before falling asleep or keeping some ebooks on your phone for anytime you have to wait, etc. Good luck incorporating reading more into your yearly goals. :D

  4. 28 books in 2017, which is low for me!! But hoping for at least 30 next year (which is ambitious with a baby!).

    1. I feel like having a baby can be beneficial - you can read during your maternity leave! :D

  5. Great job on finishing the Goodreads challenge and getting close to the Popsugar challenge! I've failed the Goodreads challenge for the 2nd year in a row but I think it's okay as long as the challenge encouraged you to read more and explore more books. This year I'm trying to read 50 books but who knows if I'll be able to achieve that :)

  7. I think you did pretty well! 65 books is more than what a lot of people read in a lifetime, so kudos to you. I was travelling full-time in 2017 so I only read about 20 books, which is nothing compared to my usual numbers, so I hope to redeem myself in 2018!

    1. Yes! Me, too. I've already planned out about half of my reading list for this year, so I can really focus on the ones I own. I probably have well over 100 I own but haven't read.

  9. Wow congrats girl! My goal was to read two books but I didn't even manage one. (Insert embarrassed face). Since having my 1st child 6 years ago I just don't find myself reaching for a book. I reach for my phone and it sucks. I'm reading Find Her by Lisa Gardiner and so far it's really interesting. I just need to stock leaving it if ignored on my bedside table. Good luck with your 2018 reading goals. Sounds like you'll crush them!
