This may sound crazy to some of you, but I refuse to read a book on any type of e-reader. I recently had an author reach out to me to review his book, but was only offering the e-book version, so I politely declined.
See, I stare at a computer eight hours a day or more at work. Then I get off work and stare at my phone or my television, watching shows, or on social media. Then I get on my laptop and blog. I am constantly staring at a screen. It's so bad for my eyes. (I actually had to get glasses with digital lenses just for use while on the computer!) I know most e-readers have some kind of "protective screen" that doesn't harm your eyes, but that's not my only point.
I love the smell of a book. I love the way it feels in my hands, the way I can flip through the pages, the weight of the book. I truly hope that the physical book never goes away.

Don't get me wrong. I understand why people use e-readers. They're convenient, books are cheaper, it's portable and small/slim. I just don't feel that e-readers are for me.

Do you prefer the e-reader or a physical book? What are you thoughts there?

  1. I used to refuse to use a Kindle (or any other e-reader), but lately I've gotten extremely attached to one. I read extremely quickly so it's nice to be able to finish one book and just have another one at my fingertips rather than having to go to the library or order one.

    1. And I totally understand that side of it, too! To each her own. :) Plus, I have over 60 books sitting on my shelves at home that I've yet to read!

  2. I use my kindle a lot more often now because it's very convenient to borrow library books and also to read on the subway. I wouldn't want to carry physical books in my purse because they would get mangled.

    1. And that makes a ton of sense. Especially since you live in the city now.
