As I'm sure you've figured by now, I have an unhealthy addiction to coffee. No, I mean seriously. I get killer headaches if I don't have caffeine when I wake up. I usually have two go-to drinks at Starbucks - a trenta iced coffee, no classic, with nonfat milk or, if I'm going to splurge, I get a trenta skinny iced caramel macchiato. If it's cold out (which isn't too often in Georgia), I'll get plain ol' hot coffee, or maybe a butterbeer latte.
I'm not really one to try all the new stuff, especially if it sounds really sweet. I made the mistake of trying the molten chocolate latte around Valentine's Day, and it tasted like pure melted chocolate. It was just too sweet. However, I was really curious about the caramelized honey latte. I love caramel and honey, but it truly sounded toooo sweet. Luckily, Emelia over at Dream Big & Buy the Shoes posted on her Instagram about how amazing it was, so of course I had to try it!

I will say this: it wasn't too sweet. I was surprised, actually, at how not-sweet it was. It was pretty perfect! The honey and caramel blended together for a very subtle sweetness that was pretty amazing. I was kind of disappointed, however, at how plain it tasted. Like I said, my go-to splurge drink is a skinny iced caramel macchiato, which is sugar-free vanilla syrup, skim milk, ice, and espresso, with caramel drizzled on top. Since I can get it skinny (the only "bad thing" is the caramel), I prefer to get it. The caramelized honey latte had a very, very similar taste to the macchiato, but all of the nutritional facts were doubled. Plus, the drink was about a dollar more.

So, while I liked the drink, it makes way more sense for me to just get my usual.

Have you tried the caramelized honey latte- iced or hot? What were your thoughts?

  1. YAY! I'm so glad you tried it anddddd enjoyed it. I have been a lot better about my Starbucks drinks and only treating myself with them instead of making them everyday occurences, since the money adds up. I love the refreshers too, do you?

    1. I've never tried the refreshers. I'm a big, big fan of coffee, and that coffee taste, so I only buy coffee/lattes from Starbucks. I try to stray and only treat myself like once a week, but I usually go everyday. It doesn't help that the app is so user-friendly and I can just upload money to my card with the touch of a screen.

  2. Thank you so much for this post! I have been curious to try it, but my go-to is also a skinny caramel mach and it's hard for me to move onto something else. I have wanted to try this but those calories are crazy.

    1. Well, the taste is really similar, but you're so right! Even getting non-fat milk, it was a pretty unhealthy drink.

  3. I am so out of the loop, I have never even heard of a honey caramelized latte haha. I think the last time I went was..around Christmas and got something pecan? They are always adding new things aren't they?! I didn't even know they had coconut milk until someone said something the other day to me about it. Feel like this is a sign that I need to go soon....

    1. Yes! You should. They generally have new drinks for each season. But it's totally okay if you're not big on Starbucks. You could spend your life's savings there.
