It feels like there hasn’t been much time in the past year to really spend quality time with our loved ones unless they lived in the same household. But hopefully with the vaccine and a new administration, the world will reopen safely by the end of 2021. So maybe it's time to start considering a safe travel experience with the family members you've been missing. It’ll be truly special to visit somewhere new no matter who you’re with. But when you’re surrounded by your loved ones? It’ll be even better. Let's look at some useful tips for planning that trip and all-around having a great time.

Plenty of Notice

People’s schedules can be pretty busy. Trying to organize everyone can be a challenge! As such, it’s best to give as much notice as possible to ensure everyone will be able to attend. Plus, it’s so much more fun having something to look forward to, isn’t it? Especially after this past year. How much notice you give will depend on various factors, but generally, at least three months is a good idea. Also, it’s best to have a few different date options - the one that most people can attend will be the date.

When To Go

Cities change depending on the time of year. It’s a much different experience visiting New York in the winter than it is in the summer, for instance. So when you’re thinking about a trip, don’t focus solely on the destination - think about the time of year you’ll be visiting. The city and season you choose will depend on various factors, including what you’re hoping to achieve and do when you’re there. It's especially important to consider off-seasons and on-seasons. If you're looking to travel on a budget, going to somewhere in their off-season makes more sense. But if you're hoping to see the big tourist attractions and events, on-seasons may be a better option.

Getting There

There are logistics that you need to think about when you’re organizing a trip. It’s not all about planning the fun times you’ll have! Something incredibly important to consider is how you're getting there. Depending on how you travel, it could be a significant part of the trip's budget. If people are traveling from different parts of the country, then everyone might make their own way there, but if you’re all setting off from the same place, then travel together! Book yourself onto the same flight or look at charter bus rentals if the destination is within driving distance. It’s much more fun to begin the trip together!

Where To Stay

The accommodations will also play a big role in the family’s overall enjoyment of the trip. Wouldn’t it be good to all stay together? This will be easier in some destinations rather than others. If you’re staying in a large city, then you might have to settle for multiple rooms all in the same hotel (even on the same floor); if you’re visiting a smaller city, then you might be able to snag a hotel or apartment where everyone can stay. Of course, Airbnb offers accommodations that can fit pretty much any need!

No matter what type of trip you’re planning, if you prep properly, then you’ll be sure to have a great trip that lives long in the memory!
