Back in April, Andre and I completed The Color Run again. This was the second time we did The Color Run together and the fourth time I've completed a 5K that makes you more colorful (see: Bubble Run, and Color Fun Fest). Something I didn't worry about a lot before was my car getting stained after the race, because my car wasn't the best, so I was basically like "meh" about it. I would just throw down a towel and go.

But in 2015, I bought a brand new Toyota Corolla and my seats are fabric. I love my car so much and would like to keep it fairly clean. So when Andre and I went to The Color Run this year, I knew I needed to take some precautions to keep my car seats clean after the race.

How to Keep Your Seats Clean

The day before the race, I headed to the dollar store and picked up a cheap box of lawn and garden bags for about $1.50. These were perfect because they're very large and I knew they would adequately cover my seats!

When covering your seats, make sure they're fully covered. I used two bags for each seat. For the back of the seat, I opened the bag and slid it fully over the seat, tying it in the back, then tucking it in the front.

For the chair of the seat, I didn't open the bag, I simply laid it over the seat, making sure to tuck it into all of the crevices.

After removing the bags, my seats were 100% color-free! Additionally, you can use leather car wipes to wipe down the steering wheel, console, and doors, then use a vacuum to clean up the floorboards.

This is perfect if you're planning to participate in a color run, a mud run, or even after a trip to the beach or water park.

  1. Wow! these tips are really good. I Got Chevy Silverado Seat Covers to get rid of cleaning problem. I just wash the seat covers and they are clean.

    1. That's really smart, too, and obviously was a plan-ahead kind of deal. Those trash bags were last minute and budget friendly!
