Travel these days may not be the same as it's always been, but sometimes it's unavoidable. For example, if you have to travel for work, you may typically be traveling alone. But being able to get on a plane with no one to think about but yourself is an adventure. You get to spend time just with yourself, exploring the world and all of the cultures that the world has to offer you - it’s exhilarating and exciting and honestly, it's quite thrilling. I've had to travel by myself for work, and actually, the first time I flew was all alone, halfway across the country, for work. Other than safety, one worry that many people may have is that they have to entertain themselves at every turn, and what if they get bored...?

Boredom is honestly not a factor when you're traveling, whether alone or not. There are plenty of ways to remain entertained when traveling and you should indulge in those options. You may want to choose to follow this guide to getting a secure VPN so you can surf the net securely (seriously, safety first). Having a VPN allows you to logon to those sketchy wi-fi services while remaining secure. And once you have the internet, what even is boredom? Check out a few ways to stay boredom-free while you're away.

See the Sights

If you are traveling alone then you may worry about being bored while you're away. You don’t want to come back from your travel ventures and tell people you didn’t go anywhere or do anything. As they say in Italy "when in Rome, do as the Roman’s do." This means get involved, do what everyone else is doing. If you are going somewhere you have never been before then you may be overwhelmed with all the tourist attractions. Take London for instance, if you are headed here then it is definitely recommended that you take a look at a London travel guide. This will give you lots of pointers and ideas on how you can handle your city break. But it is important to explore and make the most of your experience.

Read

I think we all know that I am never bored, because I can always dive into a book - wherever I am. Traveling alone actually gives me free time to read with no distractions. When traveling, the number one thing you need is books - whether you choose to go the physical book route or use the Kindle app for never-ending books, reading is the perfect way to escape (even when you're escaping)! I actually love the Kindle app because I can read on my phone (no need for extra devices) or on a tablet.

Download Movies

If you have a Firestick and a VPN, you can download some movies ready and have those ready to go and watch them as you please. You could use the wi-fi in public to download the movies and watch them offline as you transport from place to place.

Make a Playlist

Podcasts are an excellent way to spend some time as you can really indulge in listening to someone else make you laugh or cry or curious because of all the things they have to say. You can make playlist of podcasts or stick to music, or (surprise, surprise) even buy some audiobooks! It's a great way to focus on something other than the travel, especially if flying makes you nervous.

Journal

A great way to entertain yourself when you travel is to journal about your travels! Get it all down on paper and make some memories. You'll always be able to look back at this time and know you had an absolute blast no matter what you do. You can get so much entertainment about writing to yourself and keeping a diary of your food, your experiences, and the things that you’ve seen. Oh, and don't forget to take some pictures along the way.

What are some ways that you keep yourself entertained when traveling alone?
